Who we are / what we do

The ACRAM, the Catalan Association for the Research in Medieval Archaeology, gathers investigators who study the Middle Ages from the archaeology and related disciplines.

The association was founded in 1997 with the aim to make the results of the practice of professional archaeology become relevant historical knowledge. It set out the goal to promote and articulate contact among researchers, and create communication channels for the various issues and new contributions to medieval archaeology in Catalonia.

The ACRAM’s core activity focuses nowadays on two key projects: the conferences of medieval and modern archaeology in Catalonia, and the journal Arqueologia medieval. We also collaborate with institutions and administrations, and participate in the discussion forums regarding the contents and practice of medieval archaeology.
